Food Aid requires six volunteers per day to operate. Two persons for the van and four people in the shop including a team leader.

A driver and an assistant begin at 5.30am in the Food Aid van to do a southern Gold Coast run from Southport to Mermaid Beach to collect bread and fruit and vegetables.
This is dropped off at the shop and they do the northern run from Southport to Sanctuary Cove and will have finished the second run by 9.00am. They may continue to pick up other food if necessary.

A team leader for the shop will arrive around 8.30am to open up and prepare for the workers who arrive at 9.00am.
Food preparation for the boxes begins with the bagging of the bread and produce collected from the runs. Boxes are then laid out and filled with the food.
Milk, mince and margarine are kept refrigerated until a box is given out.
The workers consist of a variety of volunteers from the community with some being Community Service workers. A productive, positive environment is always kept.
